The Position The Solution Architect in Roche Digital Technologies (RDT) - Biometrics and Clinical Evidence focuses on designing business-driven, standards-based, and future-ready solutions within the complex clinical trial and real world data acquisition domain, working across multiple systems in the end-to-end ecosystem. In this role, you will design solutions that meet product requirements, business priorities, and enterprise standards while managing non-functional requirements (NFR) and fitness functions.

You will lead others to solve complex problems, maintain the architectural vision and roadmap for multiple solutions, provide technical oversight to product teams, and evaluate new technologies including the rapidly growing Agentic AI and ML technologies to accelerate innovation and maximize the impact to the business.

Your Responsibilities

• Jointly develop the IT Product roadmap together with the engineering teams and product heads and advise on technology choices

• Design solutions that meet system requirements, business priorities, and fit within the overall CRF & RWD Data Acquisition ecosystem. Accountable for the end-to-end solution architecture design.

• Ensure compliance and alignment with the Roche enterprise standards, principles and policies

• Assess functional & non-functional requirements and technical enablers together with Business Analysts and the technical team to develop architecture-runway and key design decisions

• Documents and evolves the architecture throughout the product life cycle

• Work closely with the development teams to resolve technical challenges during system development and support

• Continually explore, research and pilot emerging technologies and propose adoption as appropriate

• Identify cost-savings opportunities and optimize IT investments

• Mitigate security and compliance risks from technical debt and obsolescence

• Propose and lead proof of concepts (PoC) to assess technical viability together with the Tech team

• Work with RDT adopting the use of AI and ML solutions in both developing and managing data pipelines.

• Actively participate & collaborate with solution, information, and enterprise architects within the engineering team and across products

Who You Are

• You built 7+ years of work experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead, of which at least 4 years in the Life Sciences or Pharma Industry. Knowledge of Pharma Regulations (GxP, Computer Validation) experience preferred

• Demonstrated experience designing business-driven, standards-based, future-ready solutions within a complex or multiple solution/product context

• Experience maintaining the vision, roadmap, and current landscape for multiple solutions, and assessing the impacts of initiatives on capabilities, risk, and application landscapes

• Proven track record of proactively contributing to architecture practices development and mentoring others

• Experience in the Pharma/Biotech domain, especially Clinical Trial Data Systems, such as Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems, Non-CRF data systems, digital health technologies, and clinical data warehouses

• Experience with ETLs/ELTs, data warehouses/lake/lakehouses, enterprise data integration patterns, relational and object databases, and experience with AWS or other cloud technologies

• In-depth and expert-level knowledge in multiple technology areas

• Proficiency in creating Conceptual & Logical Data Models, Taxonomies, Ontologies, and Integration pathways for products

• Ability to define and drive reference architectures, patterns, NFRs, and fitness functions

• Advanced capability to drive external technology trends and assess feasibility for multiple solutions, including conducting vendor assessments

• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate difficult concepts and influence stakeholders to adopt different perspectives

• Proactive mindset to identify opportunities to enhance value, improve existing solutions, manage technical debt, and lead teams in identifying innovative solutions

• You are flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities and commit to collaboration during "Roche Golden Hours" (4:00 - 7:00 PM CET Time)

• You are fluent in English

Description of the area This team is responsible for delivering software systems for the CRF and RWD acquisition and ingestion of Roche clinical trial data, serving as the source of truth across Roche Pharma. Foundational systems in this area include Roche’s Electronic data capture (EDC) - Medidata Rave, non-CRF systems, and clinical data warehouses.

These systems are critical to drug development, powering clinical data review, safety reporting, operational insights for clinical teams, and support early development activities in the Genentech (gRED) and Roche (pRED) Early Research and Development groups. They provide data to the Analytical Data Science’s ecosystems to standardize and analyze data for regulatory submissions. In addition, standardized clinical data from these systems are essential to integrate with Roche’s specialized data modality platforms including omics, clinical imaging, and digital health technologies.

A key focus in this area will be to leverage emerging AI technologies to optimize clinical data acquisition data pipelines. This includes enriching metadata and building AI-ready datasets to enable autonomous agentic and human-in-the loop AI systems which are transforming the drug development process.

Compensation & Benefits The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Warsaw Grafit is 228,900.00 PLN - 425,100.00 PLN. Final compensation will be determined by a number of factors, including your skills, experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus with a target of 20% subject to both individual and company performance. This position also offers an attractive benefits package.
