Job Description

As a Executive Director Global Strategic Marketing, you will be responsible for the development of global marketing strategies for the early inflammation pipeline. You will be a “player/coach” in that you will lead a team early pipeline marketers and you will provide key strategic input into the commercialization of Gilead’s emerging portfolio of inflammation assets, including serving as Commercial Team Lead for some key programs. In this capacity you will be responsible for the development of the commercialization strategies to optimize the value of these assets.

In addition to providing commercial leadership of the inflammation pipeline assets, this role will also lead GSM team in the commercial assessments for inflammation business development opportunities, determining commercial value and alignment with Gilead’s inflammation therapeutic area strategy. The successful candidate, in close collaboration with cross-functional partners, will lead the development of commercial strategies, including development of TPP, commercial input into clinical trial design, new indications and lifecycle management opportunities, to drive the development and implementation of integrated commercialization strategies.

This position will be based in Foster City, CA.

Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Vice President, Global Commercial Product Strategy, LIVE, you will:

• Develop and execute the commercial strategic vision across Gilead’s early inflammation pipeline, balancing near-term and long-term priorities.

• Represent global commercial on a Project Strategy Team and help shape clinical / regulatory strategy and planning in close partnership with cross-functional colleagues.

• This individual will establish and lead a cross functional global, early commercial team (eCT) as well as an to build integrated global strategies that meet global market, regulatory and payer needs as the pipeline assets advance toward registration, approval and launch.

• Create strong and close working relationship with a few key Gilead markets, including ex-US markets, with whom you will partner for the development of global commercial strategies.

• Develop the global brand profile and key marketing deliverables, including global brand vision and value proposition, accounting for competitive landscape and potential to differentiate competitively.

• Conduct strategic marketing activities including market and competitive research and product positioning in close collaboration with cross-commercial disciplines.

• Identify actionable insights based on market research and ensure that the product / brand addresses unmet need areas.

• Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful development and execution of global commercial strategies that maximizes the overall value of our assets, while ensuring patient access across the product lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 16+ years of relevant experience, OR

• Master’s degree and 14+ years of relevant experience, OR

• PhD and 14+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications We’re seeking a strategic, influential leader, experienced oncology marketer, and experienced global leader with:

• At least 16 years with BS/BA or 14 Years with MS/MA/MBA/PhD/PharmD with 14 years of relevant commercial experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

• Substantial Inflammation-specific experience and market knowledge required, managed care experience is highly desirable.

• Experience working in global marketing and in an affiliate, inclusive of the US and ex-US markets is highly valued. Familiarity with Gilead’s cross-functional G-Ecosystem, and commercialization teams is also highly desirable.

• Experience in product strategic planning, including developing differentiated brand positioning and messaging, developing solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness.

• Experience leading commercial assessments for business development opportunities is essential. Strong forecasting experience required.

• An inspiring leader motivating individuals and teams toward higher levels of engagement and performance aligned with the organizations needs and vision.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences and executives.

• Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas.

The salary range for this position is: $281,010.00 - $363,660.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
