The Position Bioinformatics Application Consultant
Affiliate: Roche Diagnostics Korea Division: Service&Support Work location: Seoul, South Korea
Your key responsibilities
1. Technical & Programming Skills
• Solid understanding of customer IT and network environments (e.g., local servers, cloud architecture, and data transfer protocols) to ensure seamless deployment and integration of bioinformatics pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python or R for biological data processing, statistical analysis, and scientific computing.
• Extensive experience working in a Linux/Unix environment for high-throughput data processing.
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end NGS/Omics analysis workflow (from raw FASTQ/data QC, alignment, and quantification to statistical/functional interpretation).
• Hands-on experience analyzing Omics datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, Proteomics, WGS/WES, Multi-omics).
• Manage and standardize end-to-end NGS data lifecycle, from instrument run data to analysis-ready results, by managing primary, secondary, and tertiary workflows.
2. Communication & Problem Solving
• Ability to translate complex biological/research questions into computational frameworks and interpret analysis results into biological mechanisms.
• Ability to review literature and technical tool documentation to independently implement appropriate analytical methods.
• Strong communication skills to articulate analysis insights and collaborate effectively with customers, researchers, and cross-functional teams.
3. Demonstration & Training for customers and distributors
• Lead hands-on training for customers and distributors
• Provide scientific and technical consultation on workflow configuration, data interpretation, and QC best practices, and ensure effective use of analysis tools.
• Create and maintain workflow documentation and training materials.
4. Collaboration with APAC team.
• Collaborate closely with the regional APAC Bioinformatics and Application Support teams to ensure seamless communication, exchange technical knowledge, and deliver enhanced value to local NGS customers
Who you are
1. Education & Qualification
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• M.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, Statistics, Biological Sciences, or a related field. (OR a B.S. with 4+ years of relevant industry experience acceptable)
• Good command of spoken and written English
2. Experience
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics data analysis and pipeline development.
• Proven experience in customer-facing technical support, field application, or advanced scientific support role for NGS assays and instruments.
