Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm Site: LVL Bldg: L Rate: $42.04 / hr Excluded
PDT – Process Research & Development (CPD) Position Objective Contribute to meet budget goals by reducing ordering expenses, maintain an inventory of lab supplies and check before ordering. Participate in safety programs and trainings. Practice a good housekeeping in the labs and follow green laboratory practices. Organize lab supplies in the labs such a way that makes easier for scientists to find them. Maintain safety standards in the laboratory. Pay attention to a clean and uncluttered workspace. Comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy GLP, GMP, federal, state, and local regulations to ensure a healthy and risk-free environment. Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation- calibrating and changing KF solutions. Make sure all cans and carboys with hazardous waste, sharp containers have proper hazardous label.
Responsibilities
• Pharmaceutical Development Technician Process Research & Development. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation interface with laboratory and inventory information management systems, facilities, and equipment under strict compliance to GLP, GMP, federal, state, and local regulations. Laboratory activities and preparative experiments include but are not limited to the following: Preparation of buffers and other media, physical, chemical, and mechanical analysis, lab experiments and preparative experiments (set ups, preps of reagents, solutions, waste handling). Familiarity and demonstrated competency after training with test equipment including but not limited to the following: HPLC systems, GC systems, automated UV-diode array systems, powder characterization equipment, calorimetry characterization equipment, NIR, Raman, ROL, LOD, KF, etc. is required. Process scale-up activities include, but are not limited to, executing, and documenting with strict attention to quality and safety unit operations such as distillation, crystallization.
• Reaction, extraction, filtration, solids handling, subdivision, and sizing, etc. Set-up, operation, sampling, clean-up of and data acquisition from (including electronic and manual collection) both manual and computer-controlled process and utility equipment such as reactors, centrifuges, dryers, mills, pumps, meters, tanks, thermal oxidizers, temperature controller modules, scrubbers, etc. will be required and performed based on written or verbal instructions from supervisor and/or professional staff. Proficiency in operating and understanding principles of commonly used equipment and test equipment used for in-process testing must be demonstrated following training. Some projects will require working in clean/aseptic areas and anti-cancer/containment areas using established handling procedures.
Qualifications
• Two-year Associate Degree in science or equivalent. Partial completion of a Bachelor Degree in science or equivalent, or demonstration of accredited specialized process engineering training program would be considered in lieu of Associate Degree.
• Practical experience working in a laboratory setting would be highly desired, especially if it involved Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing.
• cGMP experience in the pharmaceutical industry, is highly desired.
• Attention to detail is critical for both compliance and safety.
• Proficiency in the use of computer programs/systems, is essential. Including but not limited to SAP, DeltaV, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with scientists, is essential.
• Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams.
• Flexibility and adaptability to learn new technologies and processes as required, demonstrating eagerness to contribute to innovation and operational excellence

Compensation Overview:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $42.04 per hour. The PDT Process Research & Development position will be covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Bristol Myers Squibb and the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (USW) and its Local 4-438.
