Sr. Director, Head of Site Engineering & Facilities

About this Role As the Head of Site Engineering & Facilities, you will lead one of the most critical functions supporting our manufacturing network, ensuring the reliability, compliance, and performance of the infrastructure that enables lifesaving medicines to reach patients.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for engineering, facilities, maintenance, utilities, site services, and capital project execution across a complex biopharmaceutical manufacturing site. As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, you will shape site strategy, drive operational excellence, lead digital transformation initiatives, and develop high-performing teams that support current and future manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead all site engineering and facilities functions, including Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, Utilities Operations, Instrumentation & Controls, Reliability, and Site Services

• Develop and execute engineering and facilities strategies that support manufacturing performance, capacity, reliability, and compliance objectives

• Serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, contributing to site-wide decision making and long-term strategic planning

• Lead and develop a team of engineering and facilities leaders while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture

• Oversee site shutdown planning, operational readiness, business continuity programs, and emergency response planning

• Ensure adherence to cGMP, EHS, quality, engineering, and regulatory requirements while maintaining inspection readiness

• Manage operational and capital budgets while identifying opportunities for infrastructure improvements and long-term investment

• Partner with manufacturing, quality, technical operations, and global engineering teams to support technology transfers and facility expansion initiatives

• Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and digital transformation initiatives across the site engineering and facilities organization

• Represent the site with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations

Who You Are You are an accomplished engineering leader who combines technical expertise with strategic business acumen. You thrive in complex manufacturing environments, excel at developing teams, and have a passion for building reliable, compliant, and future-ready operations that ultimately serve patients.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university

• At minimum 15 years of experience within biotech, pharma, or related field

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering, facilities, maintenance, and/or utilities organizations

• Experience leading large, cross-functional teams and developing leaders

• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, facilities, utilities, validation, and lifecycle management

• Experience managing operating budgets, capital projects, and contractor relationships

• Deep understanding of cGMP, EHS, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements

• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive results across multiple functions

Preferred Skills

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline

• Experience supporting large-scale biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing campuses

• Expertise in site-wide utility infrastructure, facilities operations, and engineering compliance programs

• Experience leading digital transformation, automation, or operational excellence initiatives

• Previous experience presenting to regulatory agencies and leading inspections within engineering and facilities functions

Job Level: Management Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $206,000.00-$283,250.00 Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
