POSITION SUMMARY:
Join Natera’s R&D operations as the Supervisor for R&D Sample Management. You will direct biobanking, cold chain logistics, and the daily sample management operations supporting clinical diagnostics and clinical trials. Every sample represents a real person, and you will partner directly with cross-functional teams to execute sample processing and logistics with rigorous precision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Direct the daily staffing, scheduling, and operational setup for the Sample Management team
• Take ownership as the primary operational lead for clinical study and trial sample management, using data to resolve logistical inquiries and drive outcomes
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing compound shipments with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), partners, and collaborators
• Manage the receipt, registration, storage, and inventory of samples for R&D and clinical trials, fulfilling interdepartmental requests
• Maintain precise sample records in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and reconcile inventory periodically using data
• Take ownership of training for the Sample Management team, rigorously monitoring the progress of new hires to ensure execution readiness
• Ensure accurate, ethical, and appropriate management of samples in strict compliance with all applicable federal regulations
• Monitor team members to ensure precise adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and lab safety procedures
• Handle protected health information (PHI) in paper and electronic formats as required to perform duties
• Complete required HIPAA/PHI privacy, compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a scientific discipline
• At least 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience in an industry setting
• Experience working in clinical study or trial sample management is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated knowledge of GxP and ICH requirements and best practices
• Think team by partnering directly with cross-functional clinical study teams to drive sample management execution without needing translation layers
• Basic knowledge of LIMS and database query tools, with Microsoft Excel and SQL experience preferred
• Ability to think analytically, testing assumptions with data to troubleshoot and solve complex logistical problems
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships within the functional area
• Manage competing priorities while operating with pace and precision in an evolving scientific environment
