The Position The Operations Portfolio Lead position is part of the Operations Product Portfolio Management (OPPM) Function within Diagnostics Global Operations (GO). The OPPM function is accountable for the strategic management of the Global Operations product portfolio across the entire lifecycle. By providing a clear point of contact for each Customer Area, the team positions Global Operations as a strategic partner at scale. It plays a central role in bridging Global Operations' needs with business area requirements and managing product related projects within Operations and in collaboration with interface functions. With this OPPM drives the competitiveness of our operations product portfolio, value for our customers and patients and success for our business.
The Opportunity As the Operations Portfolio Lead BGE, you will hold end-to-end accountability for the BGE Operations product portfolio throughout its entire lifecycle to ensure on-time, in-full, and cost-effective supply. In this strategic matrix leadership role, you can serve as the primary Global Operations representative in the Life Cycle Team (LCT). You will operate with autonomy to bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution, translating business goals into clear priorities for Global Operations, optimizing manufacturing cost structures, and representing the portfolio at the executive level.
• Portfolio & Supply Strategy: Accountable for a 5-to-10-year consistent product roadmap aligned with Customer Area, Life Cycle Team (LCT), and Diagnostics Operations strategies. You will own end-to-end operations product portfolio strategies for the assigned portfolio.
• Supply Security & Risk Management: Monitor demand/supply situations and capacity plans. You will lead cross-functional task forces/squads to resolve supply interruptions and resolve multi-layered, unstructured operational problems.
• Product Care & Improvement: Plan, fund, and execute product care and process improvement roadmaps to optimize Standard Manufacturing Costs (SMCs), quality, and supply reliability. Ensure full compliance with regulatory frameworks and SHE guidelines.
• Functional Partnership: Act as the primary point of contact, subject matter expert, and Global Operations representative in Life Cycle Teams and Product Care Quality Teams.
• Influence & Governance: Manage stakeholder networks across Customer Areas, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, sites and all Operations Functions.
• Conflict Resolution: Establish global working structures across networks to manage competing interests, negotiate resource trade-offs, and drive collaborative trade-off decisions.
• Financial Performance and Budget: Take financial responsibility for the assigned portfolio following a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach, directly governing standard manufacturing cost (SMC) roadmaps. Review portfolio financial KPIs, prioritize budgets , and drive initiatives or business cases for investments.
• Resource Prioritization: Actively own and balance resource allocation, cross-functional capacities, and budgets against business objectives during constraints.
• Matrix Leadership: Demonstrate mastery in providing indirect, functional matrix leadership to cross-functional leaders, senior specialists, and expert squads across a global ecosystem.
• Enterprise Mindset: Foster a work culture committed to customer focus, psychological safety, and operational excellence. Boldly innovate, break down functional silos, and constructively challenge the status quo.
• Strategic Vision: Act as a resilient systems thinker who navigates high-ambiguity environments to shape long-term strategy and decisions guided by corporate goals.
Who You Are You have advanced strategic and operational decision-making skills, with a deep understanding of production processes, financials, and a strong ability to influence senior leadership, navigate high-ambiguity environments, and manage stakeholder networks.
Furthermore, you bring the below qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or business discipline (such as Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration); an advanced degree (MSc, MBA, or PhD) is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry, with a clear understanding of Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality & Regulatory frameworks in diverse, global matrix roles.
• 5 years of leadership experience in a global setting, with a proven track record of providing indirect, functional matrix leadership to senior cross-functional teams, managers, and expert squads without requiring formal headcount responsibility.
• Extensive experience driving and shaping operational excellence, M&A/portfolio integration, portfolio roadmaps, and product life-cycle management within a complex, network.
This role requires to travel internationally up to a maximum of 20%
