The Senior Scientist, Drug Product & Packaging is an experienced individual contributor who provides strong scientific and technical expertise in support of drug product and packaging processes for commercial and late-stage products. The role focuses on execution, problem solving, and technical depth within defined project scopes and operates with a high degree of autonomy while aligning with strategies and priorities set by senior MS&T leadership.
The Senior Scientist is expected to independently handle complex technical assignments, contribute significantly to cross-functional teams, and apply sound scientific judgment to support reliable product supply, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Serve as a subject matter contributor for drug product and packaging processes
• Contribute to standards and SOPs
• Support investigations and root cause analysis
• Contribute to CQAs, CPPs, and control strategies
• Design and execute technical and validation studies
• Technology Transfer & Lifecycle Management
• Support DP and packaging tech transfer
• Ensure knowledge capture via TPT
• Support lifecycle improvements
• Project & Documentation Responsibilities
• Own defined technical workstreams
• Author and review GMP documentation
• Support CMC submissions
• Scientific Excellence & Continuous Improvement
• Maintain scientific expertise
• Drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Good working knowledge of QA, cGMP, and the Pharmaceutical Regulatory framework.
• Good knowledge of various types of pharmaceutical packaging processes/technologies.
• Good knowledge of Technology Transfer and validation.
• Working knowledge Lean and 6 Sigma methodologies.
• Good leadership skills and ability to influence and work across organizational boundaries.
• Effective communication skills, good command of English and preferably another European language.
Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Process/Packaging Engineering/Technology, Process/Packaging Development, or similar education in this field.
• 5-8 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/Cosmetics/Food industry.
• Experience in the development/application design and their implementation.
• Knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical packaging materials.
• Demonstrated project leadership. Experience of multi-site/cross-site project management.
