Job Title: Senior Consultant – Python Progtamming (Full Stack) Career Level: D2

Introduction to role: Are you ready to harness modern engineering to help transform how life-changing medicines reach patients? Join a high-impact team building secure, scalable products that turn data into better decisions across our business. Your work will shorten feedback loops, increase the reliability of critical platforms and directly influence how quickly we can move from scientific discovery to real‑world outcomes.

Operating at a senior level, you will own complex services end to end, from shaping solution architecture to hands-on coding, testing and deployment. You will raise the engineering bar through clean code, robust patterns and strong DevOps practices—while collaborating closely with product, architecture and data teams to deliver value in short, measurable increments.

Do you thrive on taking ideas from whiteboard to production, instrumenting what matters and iterating fast? This is a chance to lead by example in an Agile environment, aligning modern Python, React/Next.js and AWS-native capabilities to solve meaningful problems at scale.

Accountabilities: - Product-Focused Delivery: Translate outcomes into clear increments with product and data partners; plan and execute delivery within Agile/Scrum ceremonies to create measurable impact. - Backend Services (Python/FastAPI): Design and build secure, scalable APIs and microservices; apply async I/O and multithreading where it adds throughput and reliability; enforce robust error handling, logging and performance optimization. - Frontend Engineering (React/Next.js/TypeScript): Build responsive, accessible components and pages; optimize for performance, maintainability and reuse; integrate modern UI patterns. - API and Systems Integration: Integrate frontend apps with backend systems and external services; implement and harden authentication/authorization flows using JWT and OAuth. - Cloud-Native Operations (AWS/EKS): Containerize services with Docker; implement CI/CD with GitHub and ArgoCD; apply IAM best practices; design for resilience, observability and cost efficiency. - Data and Storage: Model, query and optimize against PostgreSQL and Snowflake; ensure data integrity and reliability in high-traffic scenarios. - Quality and Reliability: Drive a testing culture with Pytest and Jest; lead code reviews and refactoring; champion secure coding and progressive hardening of services. - Engineering Excellence: Apply OOP, SOLID, DRY and KISS; design modular, testable architectures; establish reusable patterns and internal libraries to accelerate delivery across teams. - Ways of Working and Mentorship: Contribute to a culture that embraces AI and modern digital tools to improve outcomes; coach peers, share knowledge and help scale best practices across squads. - Business Impact: Reduce lead time and defects, improve system uptime and user experience, and ensure solutions align to strategic priorities that speed and strengthen decision-making across the enterprise.

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

Why AstraZeneca: Here, engineers, data experts and scientists come together to solve complex problems with real patient impact—combining advanced platforms, AI and modern software practices to accelerate decisions across the business. You will work with cutting-edge tools, learn fast through hands-on experimentation and hackathons, and be supported by leaders who value kindness alongside ambition. With strong backing and a mandate to scale what works, you’ll help shape the digital foundations that enable our teams to discover, develop and deliver medicines faster and with greater precision.

Call to Action: If you’re ready to build resilient, cloud-native software that moves science and decisions at pace, take the next step and join us to create what matters most.Introduction to role: Are you ready to harness modern engineering to help transform how life-changing medicines reach patients?
