POSITION PURPOSE
• The Chain Activation Manager is accountable for converting the Chain strategy into integrated customer plans and high-quality execution across priority pharmacy chains. The role combines strategic account activation, joint business planning discipline, launch readiness, sell-in and sell-out performance management, patient and digital activation, and resource prioritization.
• The position acts as the business integrator across Customer Engagement, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial Excellence, distributors and chain partners. It works closely and extends coaching roles to the Chain Activation Executive to deliver a consistent execution rhythm, generate actionable market and customer insights, and improve patient access, pharmacist capability, product availability and portfolio performance.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION
• Chain strategy translation and portfolio activation
• Translate the Chain Strategy aligned with Retail Strategy Lead into annual activation plan, break down by 90-day Chain outcomes, customer priorities, activation roadmaps and measurable success indicators.
• Develop differentiated plans for priority chains, balancing portfolio opportunities, customer needs, patient value and enterprise priorities.
• Recommend where to focus, stop, scale or reallocate resources based on business impact and customer insight.
2. Joint Business Planning and commercial performance
• Lead the entire Joint Business Plans process with priority chain partners and ensure agreed initiatives have clear owners, milestones, investment logic and measures.
• Establish a disciplined sell-in and sell-out review rhythm covering target delivery, active outlets, portfolio productivity, inventory, ordering, rebate and trade-program performance.
• Turn performance gaps and opportunities into fact-based recommendations for leadership and Product Teams.
3. Launch readiness and product availability
• Build chain-specific launch readiness plans with Product Teams Supply Chain and customers, including listing, forecast, inventory, training, communication, visibility and activation requirements.
• Monitor availability and inventory risks across priority chains, escalate constraints early and coordinate corrective action.
• Ensure new launches and priority products have the right customer commitment, field readiness and outlet-level execution plan.
4. Patient, pharmacist and digital activation
• Co-create pharmacy staff capability journeys that combine product knowledge, consultation skills, objection handling, in-store training, webinars, e-learning and practical reinforcement.
• Lead patient education and engagement activation with chain partners across appropriate digital and physical touchpoints, in alignment with approved product and medical guidance.
• Define activation KPIs and evaluate reach, engagement, recommendation, adherence, active outlets and sell-out impact to guide continuous improvement.
5. Strategic customer and stakeholder engagement
• Build trusted working relationships with chain Product Managers / Buyers, Marketing, Training, Category, Operations and other relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare top-to-top and co-creation engagements with clear customer insights, business agenda, decision asks, value proposition and follow-through.
• Maintain a stakeholder map and a single, transparent action tracker across external and internal partners.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to align Product Teams and enabling functions behind a unified Chain strategy, ensuring customer initiatives are coordinated across the broader Retail ecosystem and represented consistently in key business and portfolio decisions
6. Team leadership and excellence in execution
• Provide day-to-day direction, prioritization and coaching to the Chain Activation Executive while respecting the formal reporting structure confirmed by HR.
• Create clear decision rights and ways of working between strategy, planning and execution so activities are fast, non-duplicative and accountable.
• Role-model DSO and VACC behaviors by focusing the team on outcomes, enabling decisions close to the customer, running short learning cycles and encouraging constructive challenge.
7. Insights, analytics and governance
• Build reliable dashboards and reviews using customer, distributor and internal data; identify trends, risks, opportunities and causality limitations.
• Ensure activity documentation, budget tracking, customer commitments, data handling and partner interactions follow applicable policies, industry requirements and Bayer standards.
• Conduct retrospectives and convert learning into updated standards, templates and repeatable activation playbooks.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Education, skills, experiences and personal characteristics necessary for success in this position)
• Good understanding and highly experiences of pharmacy chain operations, JBP, sell-in/sell-out, trade programs, launch readiness, and retail execution.
• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare commercial roles, strategic customer management, retail activation, product marketing, or commercial excellence.
• Strong ability to translate strategy into customer plans, manage stakeholders, and deliver measurable business results.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills in both Vietnamese and English.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and drive disciplined execution.
• High integrity and commitment to compliance, pharmacovigilance, data privacy, and company standards.
