ROLE SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Vaccines Retail Channel Medical Lead is a senior, field‑based medical leader within the Vaccines Field Medical organization, responsible for enterprise‑level medical engagement across the U.S. retail pharmacy and retail healthcare channel. This includes large national retail pharmacy chains, retail healthcare clinics, and emerging retail care delivery models that play a critical role in vaccine access, distribution, and population‑level immunization outcomes.
Reporting to the Vaccines National Accounts, Policy, Organized and Retail Customer Lead, this role operates within a highly strategic, high‑volume, and rapidly evolving channel that is essential to the U.S. Vaccines portfolio. The position applies deep scientific expertise, vaccines and immunization knowledge, and strong healthcare system, access, and policy acumen to support system‑level, evidence‑based decision‑making across Pfizer’s vaccines portfolio, including both in‑line and pipeline assets spanning multiple lifecycle stages.
The role serves as a senior medical partner and thought leader to retail organizations by navigating complex corporate governance structures, high‑volume clinical execution environments, access considerations, and policy‑influenced vaccination strategies to improve vaccine access, utilization, and population‑level impact at scale..
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Medical Engagement & Retail Channel Leadership
• Support the development and delivery of objective, scientifically sound medical information tailored to national retail partners, addressing Pfizer’s vaccines and the diseases they prevent. This includes the use of pharmacoeconomic models, outcomes tools, educational initiatives, projects, non‑interventional studies, and strategic collaborations designed to inform retail‑specific vaccination delivery models, access decisions, and population‑level immunization impact.
• Collaborating closely with cross-function medical partners to identify vaccine specific medical education and project needs
• Compliantly execute mutually beneficial, retail stakeholder‑specific medical projects, collaborations, strategic medical partnerships, and non‑interventional studies that align with vaccine‑specific business and public health needs, while supporting scalable, high‑impact vaccine implementation across high‑volume retail environments.
• Build and sustain strategic, longitudinal medical partnerships with national and regional retail pharmacy chains and retail healthcare organizations that influence vaccination delivery models, access strategies, and population‑level immunization outcomes.
• Serve as a trusted scientific and medical expert across Pfizer’s vaccines portfolio, with deep expertise in disease prevention, population health, and large‑scale immunization strategies within retail settings.
• Lead high‑quality scientific exchange and outcomes‑focused discussions to support retail partner decision‑making related to vaccine delivery models, clinical protocols, access strategies, preventive care initiatives, and care gap closure.
• Engage senior clinical, operational, and corporate decision makers within retail organizations to advance evidence‑based immunization practices and scalable vaccination approaches.
• Navigate and lead engagement across high‑volume, standardized, and highly distributed retail environments characterized by centralized governance, rapid execution, and enterprise‑level scale.
U.S. Healthcare System, Access & Retail Vaccines Expertise
• Demonstrate and apply strong working knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, access dynamics, and retail care delivery ecosystem, including how reimbursement, coverage pathways, operational workflows, and policy considerations influence vaccine access and utilization in retail settings.
• Maintain a strong command of U.S. vaccines policy, recommendations, and guidance, including ACIP, CDC, and relevant federal and state retail vaccination requirements, translating policy implications into meaningful, compliant medical dialogue for retail stakeholders.
• Anticipate, interpret, and communicate external trends impacting retail vaccination, including consumer‑driven care models, public health priorities, health equity considerations, and evolving retail healthcare delivery strategies.
• Serve as a medical leader in internal and external discussions related to the evolving role of retail healthcare in vaccine delivery and population‑level prevention.
Enterprise Alignment & Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner closely with Retail Channel leadership, National Accounts and Organized Customer leadership, Field Medical Team Leads, Strategy and Execution Leads, Market Access, Commercial, and Vaccines Medical Affairs to ensure aligned, compliant, and customer‑centric enterprise engagement.
• Provide senior medical input into retail channel strategies, operating plans, and initiatives that bridge enterprise vaccines strategy with operational execution at scale.
• Capture, synthesize, and elevate retail channel insights to inform Vaccines Medical Affairs strategy, portfolio planning, access considerations, and prevention‑focused initiatives.
• Serve as a senior Vaccines Field Medical representative on enterprise initiatives related to retail pharmacy, retail healthcare delivery, and large‑scale vaccination programs.
• Maintain accountability for medical strategy execution and outcome alignment across retail channel engagements, ensuring enterprise strategies translate into meaningful and measurable access and public health impact.
Quality, Scale & Population-Level Impact
• Identify and advance opportunities to optimize vaccine delivery, consistency, and quality across high-volume retail settings.
• Support initiatives that integrate clinical evidence, real-world data, operational insights, and population health perspectives to enhance vaccination performance at scale.
• Enable sustainable improvements in retail vaccination delivery models that support equitable access and improved population-level outcomes.
Cross-Coverage & Business Continuity
• Partner with peer Senior Director Vaccines Medical Leads across National Accounts and Organized Customers to provide limited cross-coverage support, as needed, to ensure continuity of medical engagement, insight flow, and enterprise priorities.
• Maintain a foundational understanding of adjacent customer segments and engagement models to enable short-term coverage while primary accountability remains aligned to the Retail Channel specialty area.
Governance, Compliance & Medical Excellence
• Ensure all external engagement is conducted in full alignment with Pfizer medical governance standards, policies, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements across complex retail environments.
• Support the development and appropriate use of retail‑focused medical tools and educational resources to enable high‑quality, compliant scientific exchange.
• Serve as a senior role model and standard setter for compliant, high‑quality scientific exchange, medical professionalism, ethical conduct, and scientific integrity within the retail channel.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate enterprise‑level compliance, reputational, and executional risks associated with retail medical engagement, including high‑volume and policy‑sensitive vaccination activities.
• Maintain a strong state of inspection and audit readiness, ensuring documentation quality, insight capture, and data integrity meet enterprise governance and regulatory expectations.
• Partner effectively with Medical Governance, Legal, Compliance, and other enterprise functions to support issue escalation, risk mitigation, and consistent application of Field Medical guidance, contributing to continuous improvement of enterprise standards and best practices for retail medical engagement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a health science required.
• PharmD, PhD or equivalent terminal doctoral degree required.
• Requires 12 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 10 or more years with a Master’s degree, 7 or more years with a PhD or JD
• Significant Medical Affairs and or Field Medical experience with demonstrated senior‑level responsibility in retail pharmacy, retail healthcare, access‑focused, or system‑level medical engagement.
• Demonstrated success engaging large national or regional retail pharmacy and healthcare organizations with complex operational and governance models.
• Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, vaccines policy landscape, and retail vaccination models, including high‑volume delivery and access considerations.
• Proven ability to operate effectively as a senior individual contributor in highly matrixed enterprise environments and drive outcomes through influence without direct organizational authority.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking, scientific leadership, and executive presence to support enterprise‑level retail strategy and execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead high‑impact scientific exchange with senior retail clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to travel up to 70 percent, including overnight travel.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $358,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
