Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director Automation and Control Systems Hardware the Senior Manager – Utility Automation and I&C ensures the technical design and continued reliable and robust operation of Utility Automation Systems such as the Building Automation System and Electrical Automation Systems as well as all Instrumentation and control (I&C) hardware. The Senior Manager is a technical lead for utility automation engineers and I&C engineers. The Senior Manager works closely with other resources such, reliability team, projects team as well as other BMS internal resources & external engineers to deliver projects and support sustaining operations in BMS Cruiserath.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Digital Plant team that supports day to day operations in the CUB (Central Utility Building) for Digital Plant systems and infrastructure.

• Lead the I&C team ensuring appropriate resourcing and excellent standards of project delivery.

• Digital Plant Owner for the Building Automation System, Waste-Water Treatment Plant PLC/SCADA system and Electrical Automation System as well as other utility automation systems.

• Ensures communication of field devices and instrumentation to the relevant automation system controllers utilising BMS communication standards such as BUS networks as well as classic I/O (4-20mA).

• Ensures the technical delivery of I&C and Automation Hardware systems as endorsed by leadership team to meet business and process objectives.

• Manage key relationships with Engineering Subject Matter Experts and operations leads ensuring the highest level of support and delivery is maintained

• Provide direction, manage contractor/vendor workload and liaise with installation project engineers from different departments.

• Ensuring robust disaster recovery processes are in place and routinely tested for systems owned.

• Provides ownership and accountability for Asset Life Cycle Management within ‘Service Now’.

• Responsible for regular communication to Digital Plant leadership team and multi-functional team stakeholders.

• SME for GMP and Non-GMP I/O networks such as Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, Profibus DP and Profinet.

• Contribute to a high-performance culture by recognising and resolving issues as they arise.

Qualifications & Experience.

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or a related engineering field or equivalent experience.

• At least 8 years experience providing automation and control systems hardware solutions and support to manufacturing organisations in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.

• Experience with the following systems would be preferred: Siemens DesigoCC, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk software and Electrical Automation systems.

• Experience in the design of control system architectures and control panel design.

• Ability to effectively lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Core competencies include leadership, communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, flexibility to react to changing business needs, ability to meet deadlines and a commitment to compliance and continuous improvement.

• Ability to effectively communicate to stakeholders.

• Understanding of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines. Good organising and planning skills.

• Ability to anticipate, evaluate and resolve multiple, simultaneous project issues, delays and problems by utilising technical, project management, and business expertise.

• Working knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, S88 industry standards.

• Ability to work independently and remotely with minimum direct supervision

• Proven success working well in a team environment with flexibility to react to changing business needs is required.
